What is journalism?
BBC founder John Reith famously said the broadcaster should inform, educate and entertain – and that’s a pretty good definition of journalism too.
I’ve worked full-time at various media companies during my career, while also contributing to online, print and broadcast outlets on a freelance basis.
All of which means I’ve got experience of the following media:
- Websites
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- TV
- Radio
Specialisms
I’m just as comfortable writing lengthy magazine features about Irish whiskey as I am firing out snappy news stories about the latest planning applications. The truth is I’m happy to turn my hand to anything.
Having said that, these are the areas where I’ve got the most experience:
- Business (hospitality, property, finance and technology)
- Lifestyle (food, drink, travel and culture)
- Sport (football, tennis, badminton and cycling)
